The long wait is over now! Bombshell Treat Bar, a renowned ‘over the top ice cream’ shop has opened its door to its first brick-and-mortar store at 2688 Coolidge Highway. The grand opening was celebrated on 19th April.

The arrival of Bombshell Treat Bar has thrilled the downtown, as it has been around Detroit in the form of pop-ups for quite some time and acquainted itself with the community, leaving them long for a permanent space to enjoy their favorite treaties year-round.

The shop’s founders Jill and Matt Kasle describe it as a ‘blend of both nostalgic and modern frozen delicacies.’ It occupies a space of around 2,200 sq. ft which would be enough to accommodate 28 people at a time. Behind the shop’s design stand McIntosh Poris Associates and Unsold Studio. The walls of the shop feature a Motown Sign Co.’s mural saying “Life is Sweeter in Berkley. For its culinary operations, Tori Parnell, a chef who worked at Parc restaurant at Campus Martius previously, is there.

Bombshell Treat Bar initially kept its ball rolling in 2020, during the early days of the pandemic. Initially, it focused on contactless delivery. Over these years, the shop made its appearances throughout Metro Detroit through pop-ups and caterings, in various events with its ‘Big Dipper Ice Cream Cart’ and treated the community with its over-the-top treats. Notably among their appearances was its set up at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor and Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

The quadruple years of endeavors have earned it a name and fame from the Detroit people and laid the stone for its first permanent location to serve the community even better.

Jill stated in the press release, “Opening a re-imagined ice cream store has been a dream of mine. Ice cream has a way of always making people smile. It is also a surefire way to bring a community together.”

“We’re so thankful for the support we’ve received over the last few years of pop-ups and private catering.”

“We can’t wait to offer our homespun ice cream and treats in this new capacity. The city of Berkley has been so kind, welcoming, and supportive − we’re so thrilled that our journey has landed in this part of town.”
