From Carpenter to Counsellor: Travis’s Journey
Nestled on the shores of Jervis Bay, just south of Sydney, Travis’s story begins. A carpenter by trade, his hands were skilled at shaping wood, but his heart was set on sculpting the human spirit. Married with three children, Travis knew the intricate dance of being a father and husband in today’s fast-paced world. In 2016, he hung up his nail bag for the last time, trading in his tools for textbooks as he embarked on a journey to earn his Bachelor’s in Counselling from the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP).
The Inception of The Catharsis Society:
After graduation, Travis’s path led him to Odyssey House, a Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation facility where he honed his skills and empathy. In 2020, amidst a world in turmoil, he saw an opportunity to deepen his impact and opened a private counseling practice in Nowra. The Catharsis Society was born from a simple yet profound motto: “You repeat what you do not repair.” Travis’s role as a Psychotherapist isn’t just about revisiting the past; it’s about understanding how it shapes our present responses, setting the stage for healing and growth.

Words of Wisdom:
Travis’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs has grounded in realism and passion: success is a product of staying authentically yourself, hard work, and delayed gratification. The journey is long, and self-motivation is key. But perhaps most importantly, it’s the support of those around you that propels you forward. “At the end of the day,” Travis says, “you cannot do it alone.”
