Styles N Smiles: Kingstree Welcomed A New Salon This January

Currently, it is looking forward to hiring licensed hair stylists, locs technicians, and nail technicians.

Styles N Smiles has proudly announced their new salon opening in late January. This vibrant salon is located at 141 North Academy Street in Kingstree, South Carolina 29556. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was hosted by the Williamsburg HomeTown Chamber on 25th January 2024.

Styles N Smiles is owned by Felisha Conyers, formerly known as Gamble, who is a native of Kingstree. Upon opening the new salon, Conyers commented, “I told God I wanted to do more. I asked him to bless me so that I could bless my community.”

Passion From Childhood:

Conyers is actually a proud graduate of Kingstree Senior High School Class of 2003. During her school, she held leadership positions as Honor Roll Student and Drill Team Commander from 9th to 12th grade.

When she was a kid, she started doing her hair as her mom couldn’t do that. However, in those days, she did braids only. She recalls, “I was doing hair at mom’s house from the ninth grade on up.” Thus she developed a passion for hair styling when she was so young.

After completing her high school education, Conyers served her country in the National Guard for about 4 years. Eventually, she turned her passion for hairstyling into a career, by gaining training under the instruction of Charmaine Green and certification from Williamsburg Technical College in the year 2007.

Before venturing out on her own, Conyers gained valuable experience from working with Abla Pearson at Hair Studio, and Edna Nesmith at Hair Gallery for nearly 12 years. All these combined experiences she gained over the years made her manifest what she longs for, ten years later in her life.

Conyers expressed happily, “I said, Lord, this is what I want, and everything I drew is in here today.”

Key Moments of the Day:

At the inaugural function, Conyers expressed her gratitude to her husband Michael, and children Chloe, Jasyn, and Jamarcus, who stood by her side for this endeavor.

Along with the well-wishers, community leaders were gathered at the ceremony and conveyed their wishes. Outgoing Kingstree Town Manager Richard Treme admired her investments in the community and encouraged the residents to support her Style N Smile.

Jackie Hailes attended the event on behalf of Williamsburg Supervisor, Kelvin Washington and the County Council, who extended her wishes for her. In addition, She cited Deuteronomy 30:9, “Those hands are going to prosper.”

Furthermore, The event ended up with catering by Connie’s Bakery.
