Competitions are something very important for humans, of course in a healthy way! Because it helps us mingle with fellow talents, engage with them, learn and bring out our true potential to showcase to the world. They are always interesting for every spectator to watch and challenging for the participant to shine. One such competition that is keenly expected by many people around the globe is WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France.

WorldSkills Trades Competition!

1,500 participants hailing from over 65 nations and areas will gather in Lyon to take part in 59 different disciplines. From Art Floral to 3D Digital Game Art, welding, autonomous mobile robotics, Web Technologies, or Garrels, the WorldSkills Competition Lyon 2024 offers young participants a chance to showcase their abilities and express their enthusiasm to an audience of hundreds of thousands.

IndiaSkills 2024 by THSC & NSDC

Launched in 2014, THSC stands as a leading authority in vocational learning and skill enhancement in India, with a particular emphasis on Tourism and Hospitality. From the start, THSC has welcomed more than 1.5 million people and accredited over a million young individuals. Boasting a vast network of over 600 institutions, 100 colleges, and 2000 partners from the industry, THSC aims to build a strong, sector-focused training network. Its goal is to support the Tourism and Hospitality industry and fulfil its objective of offering millions of people dignified job chances to meet the demands of customers.

The Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) organised nationwide contests throughout India called IndiaSkills 2024 for the forthcoming WorldSkills Competition 2024 in partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The IndiaSkills national contest for hospitality abilities occurred at the Welcomgroup School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), Manipal Academy of Higher Education. The contestants underwent a rigorous selection process to guarantee that only the finest talents were chosen to showcase India at the WorldSkills Competition.

This is more than just a competition,” said Rajan Bahadur, CEO of THSC. He added, “It’s a platform for young professionals to display their skills and enhance their knowledge and expertise in the hospitality industry. We aim to bring the hospitality community closer and provide a professional platform for showcasing, honing, and exhibiting their talents.

These contests concentrated on pinpointing and developing the appropriate skills, with every contestant getting instruction and guidance from the THSC skill management team. Skilled mentors have been allocated to instruct and mentor every contestant across the five skill areas. A group of 102 individuals participated in the IndiaSkills National Competitions 2024, with 21 in baking, 24 in culinary arts, 22 in hotel front desk, 15 in pastry and confectionery, and 20 in food service in restaurants.

Winners, IndiaSkills 2024

THSC and NSDC held the competition across the country in baking, cooking, serving in restaurants, pastry arts, and sweets in the hospitality field. Following tough regional competitions all over the nation, five finalists were selected from a total of 102 contestants. They are,

  • Bakery: Sasmita Bardhan.
  • Patisserie & Confectionery: Police Ashwitha.
  • Cooking: Harshavardhan Vijay Khandare.
  • Hotel Reception: Joethir Adithya KP.
  • Restaurant Service: Subhrajit Patra.
