Veteran Women Open Non-Profit Gym In Columbus, Missioned To Help Community Achieve Fitness

The gym is aptly named “Mind Body N Soul Transformations.”

Columbus is now home to a newly established non-profit gym, which serves as a fresh destination for fitness enthusiasts. Owned and operated by three women – Cheryl Harrison, a ten-year Army veteran; Sheikela Ford – an Air Force Reservist; and Delonda Ramsey – an Army Veteran – all the three share a passion for fitness and helping the Columbus community.

Harrison commented, “Our mission is to bridge the gap between healthcare and fitness.”

As a veteran, Harrison always had an ardent interest in fitness, and she had trained her friends and family for about a decade, before opening her own gym. The opening of a non-profit gym sprouted in her mind a year ago, for which she and her team worked tirelessly to bring it to fruition.

The ribbon cutting was held on 27th January 2024 between 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The gym is aptly named “Mind Body N Soul Transformations.”

“At Transformations Mind Body n Soul Fitness Inc., our unwavering belief in the profound potential within each community member, regardless of their circumstances, fuels our mission,” stated Harrison.

Harrison added, “The main reason I wanted to do that was to help the community out because there are so many health conditions that are present in the community that can be prevented and treated just through proper diet and exercise.”

Highlights of Mind Body N Soul Fitness Inc.

Harrison and her team plan to offer a range of services at Mind Body N Soul Fitness Inc. They will be offering nutrition planning, morning and evening group fitness classes, goal setting, and more on weekends and weekdays. Notably, Harrison is a certified trainer, who actually got her certification in personal training, nutrition, transformation specialist, and working with older adults in 2020. The team works based on appointments, as they feel scheduling appointments helps them not only to provide a more personalized approach but also to keep track of their clients’ fitness goals.

The gym is well-equipped with squat racks, treadmills, and other related fitness gear, much of which has been brought second hand from other gyms and Fort Moore’s equipment sale. According to the team, each piece of equipment at Mind Body N Soul Fitness Inc. costs roughly around $500 – $800.

The new gym is located on Warm Springs Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
