Mother Teressa once said, “Every man needs women when his life is a mess, because just like the game of chess- the queen protects the king.”

Greetings to Everyone here , I wish you a “ Happy Women’s day ”

Every year on March 8, the world observes International Women’s Day (IWD). This time to celebrate the accomplishments of women and acknowledge the ongoing struggle for gender equality.

This year’s theme, #EmbraceEquity “Choose to Challenge,” encourages us to challenge the circumstances and fight for a more equitable world. While progress has been made in recent years, there is still a long way to go in achieving true gender equality.

Everything in life is arranged to the advantage of men. Life is tough for women. This day serves as a reminder of the work that still needs to be done to ensure that women and girls have the same opportunities and rights as men and boys.

One of the most pressing issues facing women today is gender-based violence. According to the United Nations, one in three women will experience some form of violence in their lifetime. This can include physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, and it affects women of all ages, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Addressing this issue requires a multifaceted approach that includes education, advocacy, and policy change.

Women’s achievements:

Over the years, women have made significant contributions to society in a variety of fields, including science, technology, medicine, art, literature, politics, and more. Here are some examples of women who have made a significant impact on the world:

  • VGM Canada announces Cindy Wickens, Founding Partner of XPerience Home Healthcare in Windsor, ON, as winner of the 2022 Canadian HME Woman of the Year Award.
  • Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Ruth Bader Ginsburg was an American lawyer and jurist who served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1993 until her death in 2020. She was a champion of women’s rights and gender equality and played a key role in many landmark cases.
  • Jane Goodall: Jane Goodall is a British primatologist and anthropologist who is known for her work studying chimpanzees in Tanzania. She has spent over 60 years studying these animals and has made many important discoveries about their behavior.
  • Avani Chaturvedi became the first Indian proud woman to fly a solo fighter aircraft. She flew a MiG-21 ‘Bison’, an aircraft known for its highest landing and take-off speed in the world.
  •  Mithali Raj became the first Indian woman who made India proud by playing in 200 ODI matches.
  • Malala Yousafzai: Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist who advocates for girls’ education. She gained international attention after surviving an assassination attempt by the Taliban in 2012. She has since become a leading voice for women’s rights and has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
  • Frida Kahlo: Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist who is known for her vibrant self-portraits. She was also an activist who fought for women’s rights and the rights of indigenous people.

Challenges faced by woman:

Despite the many achievements of women, there are still many challenges facing women today. Some of these challenges include:

  • The wage gap: In many countries, women still earn less than men for doing the same job. This disparity is even greater for women of color, who face additional discrimination based on race and ethnicity. Closing the wage gap requires not only individual action, but also systemic change that addresses issues such as pay transparency and discrimination.
  • Lack of education: Another critical issue for women around the world. Despite progress in recent years, girls still face barriers to education in many parts of the world. This limits their opportunities and perpetuates gender inequality. Investing in education for girls is essential for achieving gender equality and promoting economic development.
  • Discrimination based on gender: Women who face discrimination are often denied opportunities and face additional challenges in their personal and professional lives. We can be overcome this, by challenging stereotypes and biases, as well as implementing policies that promote diversity and inclusion.

On this International Women’s Day, it is important to recognize the contributions of women to society and to acknowledge the challenges they face.
